These Are the Best Deals on Our Favorite Down Comforters for the Holidays

We’ve used all of these down comforter picks on our own beds and can attest they’re excellent for winter (or year-round).Two down comforters in white one folded and the other rolled upCourtesy of Quince; Brooklinen;CommentLoaderSave StorySave this storyCommentLoaderSave StorySave this story

Down comforter deals are usually easier to find during the warmest months of the year, but we've rustled up a few worth your while before it gets too bitterly cold outside. Down comforters are some of my very favorite products to test. I live in northern Illinois, and around this time of year it's usually either snowing, dangerously cold, or both. (This week, I have temperatures of negative-10 degrees Fahrenheit to look forward to.) Tack on my generally low iron levels, and I'm basically always chilly. I have tried several blankets for our down comforter buying guide in my day-to-day life over the course of months. I've slept with them by themselves and used them with quilts and throws, just like you would. Down comforters are usually a pretty hefty investment, but several of the best options are on sale. I've highlighted the best picks below.

Down comforters are popular for good reason. Down is an excellent insulator, so sleep products made with down can keep you warmer without a ton of weight compared to other types of comforters. It also holds up well over time and can last for decades with proper care.

We've seen this comforter sell for both less and more, but you're still getting a solid deal on the best down comforter I've tested. It has a crinkly, starchy, cozy cotton sateen outer shell that rustles while you move (but not so loudly that it will disturb your sleep partner, unless you are a human tornado while you sleep). I love how fluffy this comforter stays throughout the night. The baffle box construction keeps everything secure and evenly distributed. It's warm but not heavy, fluffy but not overly airy, and crinkly but not loud. It just strikes the perfect balance of everything I'd look for in a down comforter, and it does it at a price that doesn't make me wince.

This classic down comforter feels a bit heavier than the Quince, with a cotton sateen shell that's both silky and durable. The down filling is made with Hutterite clusters that stay densely packed while you sleep, so you won't ever have that moment of waking up cold because all of the blanket's innards have shifted around. Hutterite clusters are one of the commonly used types of goose down, with Hungarian being the other. Both are excellent; Hutterite is generally more affordable and slightly softer. This comforter is also quieter than the Quince, so it might be a better option if you want to move around in your sleep with abandon.

Legends Hotel Premium Alberta Down Medium Warmth Comforter

$469 $352 (25% off)

The Company Store

This classic, luxurious comforter comes from The Company Store, which has specialized in making down products since the early 1980s. We tested the Medium Warmth version. The entire experience is crisp, fluffy, and high-end, with impressive fill power that feels heavier and loftier than other blankets sold under higher warmth ratings. Tester Kat Merck also appreciated the 15-inch drop length, which will help ensure that couples can share nicely. Use coupon code MWS25 to save.
